Project Objectives & Requirements LIFE SKILLS - Acquiring and evaluating information, decision making, problem solving, planning and organizing, thinking creatively and wise use of resources. - Critical thinking, learning to learn, marketable skills, keeping records, goal setting, self-motivation, self-esteem, and self-responsibility. - Communication, social skills, contributing to group efforts, community service/volunteering and responsible citizenship. ENTREPRENEURSHIP - Will increase the knowledge and skills of youth to generate more quickly a greater variety of different ideas for how to exploit a business opportunity and the ability to project a more extensive sequence of actions for entering business. CONCEPTS INCLUDED: Level 1 - Passion - "Love It" - Introduces young people to the world of Entrepreneurship. Youth discover what it is, who has done it, how some famous products got started, how to find and make business opportunities, and the rewards possible from owning a business. Through activities youth learn what it takes to be an entrepreneurs and whether or not they have the "right stuff" to meet the challenges. - Sections include: - What is an Entrepreneur? - The "E" Walk - Where does Stuff Come From? - Giving Back - Social Expertise - Be the E - Love of the Deal - I Need Time to Start a Business - Design and Refine - WIIFM Level 2 - Creativity - "Plan It" - Youth participate in a series of planning experiences that give them the skills needed to function successfully as an entrepreneur. They learn about types of businesses, products and pricing, marketing, partnerships, agreements and contracts. They also learn about opportunity costs, how to connect their other skills and interests to money-making opportunities, the crucial importance of timing for an entrepreneurial enterprise and how to write a business plan. - Sections include: - The Business Name Game - Types of Businesses - Recipe for Success - How do I Price it? - How do I Sell it? - Econ 101 - Business Terms - Communication Style - Beam My Idea Up, Scottie. - Should I Hire Dad? - Mom Doesn't Care - What Will I do with my Money? - The E in Customer - On-line or In Person? - Meet the Press - Is a Handshake Enough? - Turning Your Talents into $$$$ Level 3 - Risk Taker - "Do It" - Youth actually go through the process of researching and creating a business plan.
